Kelley, Hixson Pair Up for 2008
Soddy Daisy, TN (3-1-2008) - Coming off of a successful run at Daytona, Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Kelley and long time ARCA
RE/MAX Series car owner Wayne Hixson have reached an agreement that will put Kelley behind the wheel of the Hixson Motorsports #23 Chevrolets for the remainder
of the 2008 season.
“I am really excited to announce that I will be in the #23 for the remainder of the season,” Kelley said from his home in Humble, Texas. “When we started
working on going to Daytona, it was really just a one race deal. While we were at Daytona, we started talking about the possibility of running a few more
races, and then we had the strong run during the race and I knew that I wanted to do the whole season if there was any way possible. The crew and I worked
extremely well together, and everything just kind of fell into place. We still need a couple of Marketing partners to come aboard and help us out. With a
little help, we can make a strong run for Rookie of the Year.”
Kelley’s solid run and 17th place finish at Daytona caught the attention of several teams and officials, as team owner Wayne Hixson will attest to.
“I had several people from other teams and ARCA tell me after the race that Brandon had done a real good job,” Hixson said. “When you bring in a rookie with
no experience on big tracks, and his first ARCA race is Daytona, you never know what you are going to get, but I couldn’t have been more pleased. Brandon
showed excellent car control the entire week, he listened, he gave us great feedback, and throughout the race he used his head, worked the draft real well,
and overall just drove a real good race. We got caught up in that first big wreck, or the results could have been even better.”
First up for Kelley and his team are the back to back open test sessions at Iowa and Kansas the first week of April, where Kelley will shake down his primary cars
for those two events. The Hixson Motorsports crew is working hard to prepare Chassis 007, a 2008 Chevy Monte Carlo dubbed “Scooby Doo” for the Iowa Test. A new
acquisition, Chassis K2, a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo named “Old Num. 7”, is being prepared for testing at Kansas.
Brandon Kelley and Hixson Motorsports are currently seeking Marketing partners for the 2008 season. We have packages available for full and associate level
sponsorship for the entire season or for single events. Interested parties should contact Roy Shipley, Hixson Motorsports Marketing and Public Relations, at
royshipley@comcast.net.
